With a focus on smart urban design, we do indeed follow the adage that "form follows function". Space within our urban areas is a precious commodity so it must be treated with a sense of purpose.
Nevertheless, these spaces also must draw the attention of the surrounding community, giving its citizens something to notice and be proud of. To that end, we put together a high-quality architectural team and set about the master planning and design process with a goal of utilizing architecture that not only maintains, or enhances, the authenticity of the space, but also impacts all who see it.
In any neighborhood we work in, we build projects that complement each other as well as existing community assets. Each city possesses a unique personality. Design begins with the sensitive understanding of that and gaining insights into what makes a given neighborhood special. Only by studying and utilizing the history and traditions of a community can innovations and spontaneity occur naturally. After all, great design reflects the established patterns of life within a community, as well as a respect for the neighborhood.
Several SBER projects have won national and regional recognition for the quality of the architecture and design, including Tide Point, which won a National Design Award from the American Society of Landscape Architects for the public promenade along the Baltimore harbor.
